The "Foundation For A Miracle" was established in 2005.
The purpose of the Foundation is to assist Rochester, NY area families
who have a family member with Friedreich's Ataxia and to
contribute to research that will one day cure Friedreich's
Ataxia.

What is Friedreich's Ataxia
Friedreich's ataxia is a neurodegenerative disease
affecting about one in 50,000 people. People who are afflicted
with Friedreich's Ataxia have degeneration of the long nerves
of the spinal cord, the cerebellum and the nerves carrying
sensation to the hands and feet. The disease is steadily
progressive and death may occur in early adulthood. While there
is no known treatment or cure for Friedreich's ataxia,
worldwide research is ongoing, and it was only five years ago
that researchers identified the gene that is linked to the
disease. Continued research will hopefully identify ways to
minimize the effects of this hereditary disease. Fundraisers
such as this event will continue to channel money directly to
the researchers working so diligently to solve this disease and
to the families who have been impacted by this
disease.

This November 21st I am running the Philadelphia Marathon for
an important cause. Please help me raise money for the
Foundation For a Miracle. To help the families affected by
Friedreich's Ataxia. They all show such courage in facing the
challenges of FA. They are an inspiration to us all. Please click

Shack to benifit the Foundation For A Miracle.
